MBA is proud to introduce you to ADRT a toolset written to synchronize or replicate DB2/400 Databases. The tool was written from a client wanting a more functional product (was using a very well know industry endorsed product) and one that wouldn't dramatically increase in price when a System i upgrade took place. ADRT eventually replaced their System i Mirroring / HA software.
If your looking to pass your Disaster Recovery audit, run 24 x 7 and need a failover process, don't want to bring your production system down for maintenance, don't have time for backup windows, have a second box sitting OR spending huge dollars for a Cold or Warm site insurance policy - you really need to at least take a look at the value of ADRT!
Arbor Solutions heard the concerns, and has awesome talent in the System i market. Over the course of many months they wrote a tool set now installed at several accounts to replace HA or DR software. Author, George Slater tells us, "ADRT was written to actually fix areas we knew about from helping clients implement the well know solutions. We just took advantage of what was already in IBM's operating system especially with regard to Remote Journaling functionality. The trick was in the applies, you just can't apply all records across the board. We programmed logic around triggers and constraints. We work with unique keys and / or relative records. We were not afraid to also incorporate bi-directional mirroring because we know how to handle database updates!
ADRT would be great for heavy reporting demands, data warehouses, or test/ development in separate partitions or on separate servers Bi-directional mirroring has the potential to be huge for the folks running web servers, concerned with load balancing, or have a distributed network of System i Servers.
